Love it. Phenomenal draft beer selection, the custom beer glasses are gorgeous, and stumbled upon some great live music with the likes of Phoenix River. Minus one star for it being uncomfortably cold and hard to get a drink from the upstairs bar. That being said, it was definitely worth the wait to brave the crowd.

Unique bar fare. Great beer selection. Michelle the bartender has wonderful and ample assets. Highly recommended great little spot. Fresh homemade potato chips and hot from the fryerranch? Are u kidding me? Where else in America? Love em!

Went for the first time last week on a relatively quiet weeknight. Liked the atmosphere but it took the waitress over 15 minutes to come over and take our drink order! Had to flag her down multiple times to order another round. Will probably go back as I've heard the food's good, but just hope for better service next time!

Great beer selection! Friendly service and AC! Wish I wash hungry cuz the onion rings look fantastic.

I love this place come early eat great food, stay late and drink great beers!! Always some band in the back ground and tons of people make it a good time kinda place. Just don't be in a rush cause when it's busy it's busy but worth the wait.

The Buffalo wings are absolutely awesome here. That buffacue sauce is the greatest creation ever. If you're ever craving buffalo wings this is the place to go!!!!

Strawberry Fruili is all you really need to know about this little watering hole. Just kidding...they have a full roster of non-sissy beers too. The bar is always packed on weekend nights, and sometimes I hate it because the sound system is wayyy too loud for such a small space. So not only are you trying to talk over other people, but you're also talking over a DJ or guitar player. That's really the only issue with this place. It's equally cool as a nightlife spot or lunch stop, and anything on the menu that involves their buffalo chicken is excellent. Also..the Shrimp Rose-ambique is perfect, and you're not going to find a better combination of Portuguese/American/pub fare anywhere. Highly recommended. Also, go ahead and stare up at the ceiling full of hand-blown glass mugs reserved for regular patrons and champions of the bar's yearly Beer Summit. They're mesmerizing!

A tiny bar with a lot of personality. Rose Alley makes a lot of this up in having great food and brews right in the heart of New Bedford's waterfront. It is very short walk to The Fairfield Inn close by. The squat, gray stone building looks like it has seen a lot of New Bedford's working waterfront history but alas I am not familiar with what has come and gone in that spot. Rose Alley has a great selection of craft beers on tap. Lot's of options ranging Allagash to Buzzards Bay Brewing. The food is pretty awesome. I wanted to balance my unhealthy option (wings) with a salad. The salad was just standard garden salad but it was huge. I figured it would be small plate but when she set it down I knew it was going to be a challenge to finish both plates. The wings are tasty. Super flavorful with just enough kick to them. They have a few different options in the sauce department but I went traditional and it was perfect. Check out the blown glass beer steins above the bar that add some artsy class to the spot.

My boyfriend is participating in the Beer Summit. Drink 28 craft beers in 28 days and win a gorgeous hand blown beer stein from McDermott Glass. mcdermottglass.com We had wings today. SUPER GOOD. The setting is lively and fun. Love RAAH!! Can't wait to try the Keg and Eggs on a Saturday in the near future!

Good food(nice selection of wing favors) and even better beer selection...highly recommend to anyone who wants to unwind with friends, but a word of caution it gets busy at night and space is limited

So as I was limping around I wanted to find some grub near my hotel (Fairfield inn) Absolute delicious Blueberry Ale with blueberries. Had the buffalo shrimp (hot). Huge chunky shrimp to satisfy this tummy. Fast, prompt service and even saw awesomely friendly kids there visiting maybe a relative (waitress) I would bring my kids here during the day. :)) Enjoyed this place very much.

Great beers. Food is perfect. Staff is awesome. Especially the bar manager MC. He's a good guy. Funny. Cool place to hang with friends. Butch McCarthy plays every once in a while. Live music regularly.

Excellent Clam Chowder not to thick not to thin very tasty you can tell it was made from a rue. One of the Best Burgers I have had in quite some time . The Burger was cooked to perfection with a nice crisp charred crust. I will definitely go back.

How could i possibly miss such an occasion with Rebecca here at one of the places of hallowed ground. It was a great meal, a super burger and no one could ever possibly be bothered or worried of it. The two were ordered distinctly different and arrived exactly as ordered and exactly to the right order. Supreme service!

Since I was being dragged across the Braga bridge I thought we would check out the Rose after seeing the Phantom Gourmet. The place has a cool feel inside. We ordered the chips with cheese and bacon and fish n chips. The chips were good. The fish was coated in a heavy batter it made the fish dry and heavy. I would have to say this place makes a better bar than restaurant.

  • Shane R.

Absolutely love it here. The wings and fish and chips are great. Nice environment and the people awesome. I love coming here just to watch a game and relax. Always have a great time and would definitely recommend coming! Only bad thing is that it is more of an adult place at night so usually families go during the day.

  • Jake G.

This place is a complete waste of time, Terrible service. I came here for lunch one time and after not getting my food 45 minutes after ordering, I left and hit up McDonald's so I could actually eat. On more than one occasion I've been served warm, flat, and salty draft beer, totally unacceptable. The weekend atmosphere is quite undesirable, extremely noisy and nowhere to stand, sit, or even move. The redeeming quality of this establishment is very good chicken wings, but its a minuscule attraction compared to its flaws. Do yourself a favor, Walk west a few blocks and go to pour farm.

A little hidden jewel. The atmosphere is great, beer selection is fantastic. My wife had clam chowder, said it was the best she ever had. The stuffed quahog was almost as good as mine. We decided to split a fish sandwich. It was definitely homemade AND they cut the sandwich and put each half and half of each side on separate plates! That has never happened before. Don't miss this place!

Had a great time here last night . Came in with a friend , waitress was great and super polite. had the fish tacos with pickle chips ... Really great, just the right amount of fish and had a great spice to it so simple but very flavorful the pickle chips were great crispy and juicy. My friend had the cowboy up burger and he enjoyed it very much cooked perfect both got beers with our meal I got the sea dog blueberry which is one I really like great suprise when it came to the table with actual blueberries in it to top it off only place I seen it done but loved it made me feel like they take that extra step to make ur experience better which is a rare find , they had a great selection of other beers on tap too . Really nice low key casual vibe that makes u want to just stay and relax . Definitely a place I will coming to agian great experience :)

  • Amy G.

They have a wide variety of beer - ordered a flight and enjoyed trying the different options. Ordered boneless buffalo wings - medium sauce - found the wings very tasty. Also ordered the drunken chips - a bit too many jalepeno peppers but the chips on their own were terrific. Also got to sample a local band and their songs were well played. Great place to explore new beer selections and pub food.

  • Dave D.

We started with the Sunken Chips. They were awesome. Loaded with chili, cheese and jalapeño. Way better than average nachos most places offer. I had the fish and chips and my friend had smothered steak tips. The fish was very tasty and fresh. The batter was perfect. My friend said his tips were very tender and very good. We both tried about 4 different craft beers. I liked all of them but can't remember the names of them. The waitress was very nice but was obviously over worked as we didn't see her often. She forgot to bring the ketchup we asked for. There was a two man acoustical band. They were o.k. but not great. It's a small place with lots of tv's for sports. I will definitely go back.

My favorite bar ever! Every time I go there I have a great time, enjoy nice cold beer & have delicious food. The staff is always very friendly. The wings are awesome! I also recommend their stuffed quahog & onion rings. There is limited seating on busy nights so get their early on the weekends if you want a table. Week nights aren't as busy so it's easier. Decent amount of bar seats too. Even though I have moved away from the area, any time I'm near this place I make sure to stop in! LOVE IT!

  • Notso H.

I've given this place a few chances. In the warmer weather it is the place to be and can be crowded. But my last visit was on a quiet cold winter night. It seems no mater what the service is GREATLY lacking here. Then factor in that it is plain boring frozen Sysco food that is higher priced than the 99 and others that serve the boring factory food, and you lost me. The beer selection is OK but not enough to keep me coming back. You got to fix the service and the menu.

Was just turned away from Rose Alley due to a party going on. Never in my lifetime has an establishment turned us away. I will think twice before giving them my business in the future! Bad customer service Rose Alley.

I have been here a few times in the last few weeks with my wife. First time I went was a month ago. And we both love the place. It is what it supposed to be, a bar with good bar food. My first time going was a Saturday morning around 11, I don't like onions but love buffalo wings, they have a buffalo egg roll that's says it has onions in it, I asked the cook if it was possible to try the filling, he said hold on and came out a few minutes later with an egg roll on the house, he said he does not like onions either but loves them. So I tried it, we ordered them for an appetizer. We also had basket of pub chips, sunken chips, Jamaican Jerk wings and, vovos hangover. Everything was delicious, waitress was friendly but could be a bit more enthusiastic. It does take time for the food but they don't have a big kitchen staff so what would anyone expect anyway, if you want fast service go to McDonalds. We also never order our food till after we eat the appetizer so are never in a rush anyway. The live music can be a bit loud so if you don't like it you may want to come when their is none. We go out to have fun and enjoy each others company. And we enjoy it and the food here.

Very disappointing outing after reading all these rave reviews. Probably a great place for people under 25 with no type of palate experience. Let's actually start with the beer even though that's not what my primary reason for the visit. I know a bit about beer and the lines of the beer has been pushed through have never been cleaned they just change keg after keg. This will add a bitter aftertaste to your beer. Very poor maintenance for a place that calls it self an alehouse. Now the food, our entrées came with French fries and onion rings which were Ice cold when they were delivered to our table. I asked the waitress to return those items to the kitchen she then reappeared would appear to be the same exact items refried which resulted in the greasy mess which I have pictured here. So I sent it back again for a second time because obviously someone in the kitchen was having a mental lapse. Ensure I would say this place is great for kids who aren't particular not for the mature crowd who have some expectations

Have been driving by Rose Alley for years, never stopped in..... What a mistake that was. Our first visit was last week, my wife and I sat at the bar watched a ballgame, enjoyed some amazing mixed drinks, and a pound of the best boneless wings I have EVER had.. The homemade chips are also amazing. Yesterday we stopped in as we both were having a vacation day.... How do you say heaven? I say it with Buffalo Chicken egg rolls and fish tacos with onion rings! A few icy cold Wachusett Blueberry Ales with fresh blueberries and I am in my Happy Place! I always thought Rose Alley was a hangout for the early 20's crowd. But I was wrong, it has become one of my favorite places in the area....... WINNER.......... WINNER!

They have AWESOME wings....and I know this coming from Buffalo, NY. The rest of our food was also tasty (burger and lobster roll). Great selection of craft beers....we will definitely be back. Also, we really want to try out their Saturday Kegs N Eggs!

Just ate here for the first time- I've been down south for months now. I very much enjoyed my burger- they have these homemade chips to die for! My dad swears by the loaded nachos (which are served over the chips!). Our server was super friendly and attentive and the beer selection was fabulous (I'm a hard-to-please IPA drinker!) Great location, easy to park and the server told us that there are live bands at night! I will definitely need to check that out next time I'm in town!

I was down at another regional office for a meeting, so I popped in here around noon-time with some friends before heading out of town. US v. Canada was on so the place was packed, and obviously is really popular amongst the work crowd and locals alike. The service was friendly and nice, and accommodating when we split the bill four ways. There were a lot of inventive menu options for pub food. The Rose Alley Burger stood out but the ingredients sounded too heavy for going back to work after. Wings were a big option with a ton of sauce combinations. The prevailing choice at the table was the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. You can get any sauce or rub they offer for wings. For buffalo they offer mild, medium, hot, lava and suicidal. I went with the hot, with others getting mild and medium. If you like things hot, then next time I would go with lava at least. Overall, it was very good. This is a nice place to check out if you're in town.

  • John S.

absolutely the best chicken wings around, they also have a nice selection of brews. the place is small and only a few tables to accommodate groups over 4. staff is friendly. they also have 1/2 price wings weekdays before 7pm.

  • Mallory T.

Great! We went for beer and wings and weren't disappointed. They have a great beer selection. The wings were crispy and meaty. I had honey bbq and the ranch dry rub and my fiancé had mild buffalo and the garlic and herb - they were yummy. We ordered fried pickles which were fried nicely but they were the cheap yucky pickles that people usually don't eat on the side of a plate with a burger. If they used better quality the pickles would have been great. The aioli was very tasty. The atmosphere was that of a nice clean bar. Our waitress was fantastic and attentive. We will definitely go back!

Love love love! Wasn't expecting to find a good beer bar in downtown New Bedford! It is a nice open space with plenty of room to sit or stand, and our waitress took good care of us throughout the night. We each tried 3 different beers and ordered the pub chips to start as well as 2 entrees - all of this was $70 + tip - maybe I am just too used to NYC prices but I thought this was a steal! Pub chips came out still hot - so yummy! A nice sized portion, the 2 of us couldn't finis them. We got the buffalo shrimp and 1 lb of boneless wings with rose ambique sauce for entrees. Holy yum to the boneless wings and sauce. Such a nice twist - the sauce was tangy yet not overwhelming. Will definitely come back when in town!

A happening place on the weekends. Food is average. Staff is great considering they are usually slammed with patrons. A cool spot to grab drinks and socialize with strangers.

Great place for lunch or dinner. Definitely a great place to be at night regardless of what day of the week it is. Awesome selection of things on tap and a full bar. Terrific huge menu and hands down the best boneless wings around. Always a great place to be.

  • Tricia S.

Yuck is about all I can say for this place. Horrible over priced food, atmosphere and ignorant staff .But I guess if you are over 30 you don't fit in here. Would never go back. had to yell at my guest because music was so loud !And the outside dining is wonderful....enhaling fumes on RT18!. Horrible experience. Such a waste of money. You need to remain a bar and cater to Miley Cirus wanna be

Nice little bar, great wings, great food, the atmosphere is nice, sometimes having a guy with his guitar playing makes the place really nice.

  • Annie J.

It is a cute little bar, with great food. I especially liked the unique colorful glass beer mugs hanging above the bar. The clam chowder and chips get a thumbs up, the salt and vinegar chips was my fave. The wings (jerk, mild and Tennessee bourbon) were also good (you can order different flavors per every 5 wings). The seats at the bar were practically full at 1pm on a Saturday, but the high tables and main booth were empty. My group sat at the booth; 4 adults and 3 kids. Everyone enjoyed their order, and the food came out fairly quickly. I forgot to mention the beer was good too. I liked both the coffee porter and brown ale I selected. I would definitely come back, and I recommend this place.

  • Bob H.

Great beer selection. I'm serious when I say great. Foods not bad, but nothing to write home about. Staff is friendly and the live music is usually pretty good. Prices aren't bad and on weekdays it's usually not that busy. When the college is in town, it gets pretty douchy though so beware. Lots of "bros" if you know what I mean. All in all it's a pretty good place.

Great food and great service! Television were a little loud. Seems like a fun place for evening out.

Our favorite bar by far, I love their wide selection of craft beers and the live music on the weekends!

Best Suicide Wings I've ever had. They are hot, so do not attempt on an empty stomach.

    (5)
  • Victor A.

Amazing beer selection! If you like Left Hand (Colorado), Boulevard (Missouri), Kona (Hawaii), or Lagunitas (Northern California), they have it on tap! And...the wings. So delicious! Try the Tennessee Bourbon but know it might be an extra charge over the regular BBQ.

    (5)
  • V O.

buyer beware! This place runs an all you can eat wings scam. They don't tell you this up front but certain sauces are extra money and any extra sauces are more money and if you don't finish and ask to take 1 or 2 to go they refuse saying its not allowed. You essentially pay for food that other people now eat. Again buyer beware good food but lots of scams

  • Dave F.

Rose Alley is the place the be in New Bedford. The beer selection is outstanding and the food is also great. They have a couple different flavors of wings and the boneless is also fantastic. Their challenge sauce is quite the challenge as well. The staff is outstanding. Jordan, the bar manager, answered all of my questions regarding the beers I did not know about. I was able to try a sampler of different beers per his suggestion. All of the bartenders were attentive and the waitresses were great. I absolutely love this place!

    (5)
  • Jason S.

highly overrated in my opinion. they always have 40 beers on tap which is cool. they also have a beer summit challenge (28 beers in 28 days) in feb. i think. Nice atmosphere and crowd and all. Just think the food is no good. They have good buff wings but I feel like that is tough to mess up. The rest of their menu isn't very exciting, I think most of their food comes right out of the freezer. I feel like most people enjoy it for the drinks, and laughs with their friends and just remember having a fun time and food is more than and afterthought

Worth a trip! After a day out on the water, we decided to try Rose Alley Ale House, and we are glad we did! From the hangover cure, the surf and turf, to the chicken bacon ranch panini. We each loved our meals and couldn't stop raving about it! We ordered the chips as an app and wanted to lick the crumbs out of the bowl. Yum!

Hubby and I saw Rose Alley on The Phantom Gourmet and decided to check it out since we never go to any downtown restaurants. This place is ADORABLE! I prefer the "lower to the ground tables" since I am short and my feet stay on the floor. The waitress was excellent!! She was able to talk to my husband about different beers that they offered. We ordered a burger and bonless wings. Everything was FREAKING awesome!!!!!! I will definately be going back!!! Most restaurants can't compare anymore!!

Go for the Buffalo Wings. Or the Buffalo Shrimp. *Plenty of beers on tap *Big, roomy bar and plenty of tables *Live music at night *Mixed crowd so everyone fits in - young, old, punks, parents, everyone. Prices weren't that cheap (it's still a bar, after all) but the food was good and portions were generous. If you're looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat and a pint to drink, I'd definitely recommend the Rose Alley Ale House.

Another excellent experience. A little mix up with the Beer Summit emails but Darby was there to fix everything. A jack of all trades and a master of all of them. Rose Alley's very fortunate to have someone like her doing it all.

Huge selection of beer, and decent food. The people that work there are really very nice and will go above and beyond for you if needed. I have been in this building before it was rose alley and needless to say it's a huge improvement. It's one of those places that you can go and everyone will be happy with the choice of restaurant

Got a great feeling the minute I stepped into Rose Alley. Don't let the drab exterior photo below throw you off. The interior is stylish, clean and welcoming. I stopped in yesterday afternoon with my wife and son to "hydrate" after visiting the New Bedford Whaling Museum and walking around the cobblestone historic district. Rose Alley is serious about beer. The breadth and, more importantly, quality and uniqueness of their selection is tremendous. We had a Kasteel Rouge (a cherry ale) and Fruli (strawberry white ale) from Belgium, and a Southern Tier Unearthly IPA and Wachusetts Blueberry Ale -- between us, not each ;) My son liked his Shirley Temples, but wished the bartender put in more than one cherry. There were a handful of cask-aged ales and many beers and ales that are far from the mainstream. The closest thing to mass produced beer I saw was Sam Adams, and they make great products. Beers are poured in 5 oz. (excellent for tasting), 12 oz. and 16 oz. glasses. Food was OK. We ordered a couple of quahogs and onion rings to nosh on before hitting the highway home. I wasn't a huge fan of the stuffed clams - I tasted a lot of what I think was Worcestershire sauce and lemon. The onion rings were of the shoestring variety. I like thick, beer-battered ones which go better with full flavored beer and ale. Service was great. The bartender was friendly and patiently answered my questions about the menu, beer and decor. Please let me know what you think of this review by clicking a corresponding button(s) below. Thanks!

I was here once shortly after they opened, and I dropped by again yesterday afternoon. Great, reasonably priced beer selection, including some interesting IPAs, my favorite style. I tried some chicken wings, and since I have a high tolerance for heat, I went with the "lava" buffalo sauce. There's a heat level beyond this one, but I noticed it is used in a "challenge" (if you can eat so many wings, you get your name on the wall, or something), so I went down to the level below. WOW. I rarely get my ass kicked these days by capsaicin, especially in restaurants claiming to offer hot and spicy food, but these things were the real deal. Congrats for not dumbing it down. Bonus points for having live entertainment on a Saturday afternoon. There was a very good three-piece band, cranking out well-done covers from the 60s-80s. A cool place to spend a few hours. Parking can be tough, though, and I lucked onto one of the available 8 spaces.

Since first discovering this place last year, I have been a huge fan. It's a tight fit on a busy night, but it's to be expected at a place which dubs itself an 'Ale House'. If I wanted quiet and quaint I would head next door to Cork. Their boneless chicken are huge tenders and the sauces I've tried to date (Suicidal, Gold Digger, Rozambique) have all been terrific. Great beer selection, and a fun crowd. Definitely will continue to visit!

  • Jenn M.

Went here for the first time around 3:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. The menu features half off apps from 3-6 so we ordered loaded chips and boneless chicken tenders. Both were delicious and for the price, unbeatable! The chicken was the best part because there are a lot of different sauces and rubs to choose from. We got the garlic butter and it was awesome!! The place itself is small, and I imagine it gets very crowded. When we were there, our waitress was also working the bar. She was busy, but it did take awhile to finally get the bill after we finished eating. All and all, great hangout spot!

Amazing selection of beers. I want to try for the mug one year, go in, ask about them and they'll tell you the details. Great wings, friendly staff, all around great place to go with your friends.

  • Hugh B.

My 3rd trip here..... I must say the food is a step above "bar-food" The wings are so so but the clam chowder is one of the best I have had on the east coast. A cool bar scene in a very old part of New Bedford. I wonder what this spot was a hundred or more years ago since it 's across the street from the historic harbor ??

    (4)
  • Katherine D.

Rose Alley is a pretty great choice when going out in the downtown New Bedford bar scene. The building is old and historic and the decor reflects that. I really like the color of the wood that is all over the main upstairs room. Views of the harbor can be found here. The location is convenient, and parking is all over downtown. (If you're going out on a weekend night there is a lot behind The Garden on 133 Union that is public and a popular place to park evenings) I have eaten here before and the food is slightly above your average pub food. They offer many food deals, and do cool things like prix fixe dinners arranged with breweries. Speaking of breweries, this place has a pretty amazing beer list Lots of taps upstairs, many local brews and the stuff you're accustomed to seeing around. They have a treasure trove of specialty taps in the basement bar as well. You typically order these beers upstairs, and they go down and get it for you, but you can hang out by the taps down there is upstairs is crowded. Beer and liquor are reasonably priced. The clinetele is varied. My parents go by there some nights earlier on and eat. There are bands many nights of the week and each has its draw. The weekends typically hold a younger crowd, and the place gets extremely packed. Not my favorite place to go downtown, but somewhere I end up often.

A friend suggested meeting here before heading out to a movie. I'd never been, but now I think I'll make a regular appearance here, provided I can get there during a decent time. It's a beer bar with a strong sports leaning. The fries and boneless wings were great, as were the burger and fries my friend had. My girlfriend wants to come back and try a beer flight, and wants to have the mozzarella sticks again. About the only negative is the parking, which is practically non-existent, but given where it's located they can't do much about that. I was also told by my friend that the place can get very loud and boisterous if there is a game on; if you're into that, I recommend checking it out. If you're in the area for lunch or a quick bite, I also recommend it.

We stopped here before dinner and wished we had stayed. It's a great space and friendly bar staff. We had the pub chips. Holy crap, they were AMAZING!! I tried the red sangria. It was perfectly done & not too juicy. My BF had the southern tier pumpking and that was awesome too. We will be back soon!

This place is fantastic! I went yesterday to take part in The SouthCoast Restaurant Week and was overjoyed with my meal. It is a very small - 9 table restaurant but I was able to walk right in and sit down. My husband had the clam chowder, buffalo chicken egg rolls and buffalo chicken panini - they were all excellent - you could stand a spoon up in the chowder. I had Chili, Chicken Tenders with Butter Garlic Rub - WOW, and the house burger with Fresh Warm Potato Chips. AMAZING!! Our server was very sweet and attentive. With all the construction in the downtown area you have to park a little ways away but its totally worth it.

Rose Alley is a FANTASTIC spot to stop in, grab a beer, have some wings and just enjoy yourself. The waitresses/bartenders are friendly and informative. The owners are more of the same. Their chef is top notch and their prices are downright reasonable. At it's core Rose Alley is a tiny pub located in downtown New Bedford. They have a full bar on the bottom floor but I do believe that is reserved for parties. Rose Alley is clean, well kept and stylish with well done menus and signature dishes. Their selection of drafts and whiskeys can be a little daunting for people who are not "in the know" of these sorts of things. Luckily for someone like me they have a very good staff who are ready to give suggestions and help you out in the decision making process. They often do pairings and runs of little 2-4 oz servings of multiple different beers on draft. Their food is sometimes hit or miss. I have been there when their head chef was not there... granted it was a friday night and they were very busy.. but my food was overcooked and just felt rushed... However, when their head chef (Jack) is there... You basically cannot find a much better place to go to eat. Their wings are.. well.. epic.. for lack of a better word. The pride that Jack takes in his dishes is infectious. Coming out personally to ensure that everyone is satisfied with their meal. The little nuances the man takes with his food is truly something that you would find in a classy upscale restaurant. This man prepares a burger like he is preparing you a Ribeye steak. He is heavy handed on the flavors and I enjoy that. Their buffalo sauce is very nice. Even their "Medium" is spicy and their "hot" is downright brutal. That being said they never forsake spice for flavor. Served with a nice chunky bluecheese dressing and celery their wings are without a doubt the finest in the area. Add all of this up with tasteful, live entertainment and you may find that Rose Alley Ale House may be your pub of choice for a long, long time to come. Did I mention their specials? I hope that by the time you are reading this they haven't removed it but between the hours of 3-6 Rose Alley does Half Priced Appetizers! I can't stress enough what a value getting 4-5 amazing boneless wings for $3... They also have Onion Rings, Mozzarella Sticks, Fries..etc Nothing compliments those wings better than a nice craft beer so, I fully suggest you make the trip to Rose Alley Ale House. If a crowd scares you away I suggest stopping in for lunch or they also do breakfast on saturday mornings. All of which is done with the love and care that make this place something special.

Big fan of the Rose Alley. I was excited to see a new hot spot in downtown NB since it's been about a year since my last visit. Great selection of brews and nice vibe of just good ol' fun. A few notches on the music volume would've added some spark although service and crowd made up for it. Rounds of shots for $20?! Score! We walked our way out on the cobblestone forefront a little shakier than expected :)

Chicken wings = delicious! Its probably some of the best "bar food" in NB. I stop in for lunch when I'm in a chicken wing mood :)

I must say walking into this establishment on the rainy Sunday April 22, 2012 at 8pm. The last thing I was expecting was rude customer service and a non-eatable entree. The restaurant was empty. About four couples at the bar and no one sitting at the tables but my date and my self. We took our seats without being directed. After five minutes the waitress comes over and tells us the kitchen closes in 10 minutes. No "hello" "how are you" "Welcome" and no smile. Just "The kitchen closes in ten minutes and walks away. She takes our order and brings the food. I ordered Vavo's Hangover Cure. This is written on the menu as "Had a wild night last night? Grandma's got just what you need. Chicken and shrimp sautéed up in tons of our Rozambique sauce and poured over a mound of our pub style chips. This will soak up and erase all of last night's bad decisions and get you ready to make more tonight! $10.99" What I received was 3 shrimp and 3 small chopped up pieces of chicken in a small amount of sauce. Not to mention the chips were over cooked. I mentioned this to my waitress and she brought me over a small order of French fry's. So for 10.99 I received a small order of French fry's and 2 shrimp and less then a full breast of chicken. I would also like to point out the typo on the menu. "Rozambique = should read Mozambique." My friends dish was Colt 45 Tacos, in the menu as "Grilled chicken or steak tips served in two flour tortillas topped with lettuce, tomato, jack cheese and Colt 45 taco sauce. $8.99" And I don't think she would go back for it since it simple dish that could have been easily put together at home quicker then it took them to cook it. I would not recommend this place to anyone I know. I found receiving a small order of French fries to be an insult, and also the waitress rude, and not having a smile. I must say that the best part of the night was the live music.

Loved this place. A simple, friendly, fun bar. Great beer? Sure! But mmmmmmm....great burgers too! The house burger was 10 bucks and was Angus beef, with bacon, blue cheese, sauted mushrooms and caramalized onions. AND...when the bill came...Tuesdays is two entrees for the price of one. Talk about a happy surprise! This boy is VERY happy.

Absolutely heaven for those of us who live for wings and beer! A wide selection of sauces and rubs for every taste. Don't ignore the rest of the menu either. Always a great beer selection. One of my favorite watering holes in the area.

They by far have the best chicken wings in New Bedford especially the Jamaican jerk and buffalo. The home made potato chips are fantastic! But I have found myself wanting to go here less and less. The waitstaff isn't very good they seem to hire more one appearance than ability and the bar is incomplete in my opinion, and seating most nights is impossible. Go during lunch I say and just focus on the chips and the wings.

If you're a beer nerd, live on the South Coast of MA (or anywhere reasonably close) and haven't been to the Rose Alley Ale House, you're a dbag. Seriously. Why didn't you people tell me about this place?? There's some craft beer craziness going on there. Following our visit to the Pour Farm Tavern, Yelp pointed my Lady Friend and I towards this place down on Front Street, across from the docks. Next door in a cool old stone building is Cork Wine & Tapas Bar, which is supposedly pretty good. I wouldn't know. I was on a mission. There's another stone building that doesn't appear quite as old or cool, as if it was built to mimic the look of the first. That's the one you want. Rose Alley Ale House. Go up the stairs, and be warned: it'll look like a typical sports bar. Stay on target. Have a seat and get the ever-changing beer list. Like the Pour Farm, this place blows through kegs, so there's a constant changeover of drinkables. Go for the flight of 5 beers. They're served in pretty generous glasses... somewhere around 5-6oz . Rose Alley was awesome. There was an older crowd, mostly late 30s and up, so it didn't have a wild party vibe. It was a more grown-up place where people can enjoy their meal with a great craft beer. Pretty casual dress, and some younger folks did start to filter in later on, as a live band was setting up. As usual, we took this as our cue to leave, snagged a slice of pizza from nearby Pizan's, and headed back to home base.

This place is really an impressive bar. It has a really good feeling to it and if you like beer, this is a place to go. The interior is relaxing and clean. I loved the hanging mugs from the ceiling over the bar. The blown glass was really nice. They have a great selection of draft beer. I highly suggest stopping by for a bit if you can.

Very disappointed with customer service. I work within one block of the restaurant and have frequented for lunch several times. Service is slow cutting the lunch hour way too close. I have tried on two occasions to place a take out order, but after 8 minutes of being left to hold the line (phone just placed on the counter to listen to the happenings on the other end) I hung up to place an order with another restaurant around the corner. After happening twice I will not patron this restaurant again.

A great place to hangout waiting for the ferry to MV. Good beer selection. The beef brisket was awesome. Wait staff was great but it was early in the evening.

I was a little wary of Rose Alley in its early days but the good and service have both improved through the years, and the beer list is as great as ever. Gets a little loud and clubby on weekend nights, though.

Great spot - nice stone building overlooking the ferry terminal. Waitress is super friendly, nice clean bar, and the beer selection is top notch. Food is a notch above pub fare, but not gastro pub quality. Great place for football and beer. Definitely a favorite in NB

I think this is one of the best bars in New Bedford. Just saying. Not sure how long its been open but I know it was recently renovated and is fairly new. If your looking for a good band definitely recommend going to RAAH. They have a good number of shows every month and even have people playing there on Wednesday nights from popular local bands. Love the waitstaff, bartenders, doormen and owners at this place. Being a small bar you get to meet everyone and they are all awesome people. Very personable!! Again RAAH has different events that go on from nights with complimentary chocolates to biscotti and also Tuesday nights they have beer pong contest. Good priced drinks and a wide selection of different beers on tap. You can either order a beer from the waitress or go downstairs to order one where you can view the selection they have on tap. I think its only temporary but they have an amazing Creme Brulee beer here and if its still available, YOU MUST TRY IT. Its beer and dessert all in one. :)

The quintessential small-town New England bar. At least, that's what I'd like to think since I don't actually know what that is. But, if you're not from New England, and imagined such a bar in your mind, Rose Alley would happily meet your expectations. We were there on a surprisingly rowdy Wednesday night in early July. Myself, a guy from Chicago, a ex-native, and two of the ex-native's relatives went for a round of beers. And we had a perfect pub time. The craic (gaelic for 'pub spirit') was dead-on. There was a raucous upstairs with college kids and mass-holes ordering shots and a pair of dudes on guitar that were blasting away and weren't half bad. There were people of all-ages looking to just have a good drink on a meaningless wednesday. And then, there was the downstairs. Downstairs is the Rose Alley's secret beer lover paradise. It's a great escape from the craziness upstairs, it's fairly quiet, you can have civilized conversation. AND, they have the "premium" beer taps at the bar down-below. A selection of rare and hard-to-find items including local brews topping out around 13% ABV. I can't remember what beer I had (a testament to the place and the beer), but I remember it was really impressive.

Great local brew house for the beer aficianodo, over 30 taps of micros available and a very well educated staff who really is into beer. I tried the Shipyard Applehead, brewed with cinnamon and apple and a Southern Tier Choklat porter, both excellent and they will pour samples of other beers for free for you to try. Solid pub food and in a great 18th century mill building overlooking the harbor and working fleet.

Atmosphere is great. Tons of great beers on tap all the time. Burgers and wings are to die for....as is the lobster roll....and the staff couldn't be nicer. Never a disappointment.

A well needed addition to the Southcoast. Plan on walking parking is limited. The crowd is a mix younger beer connoisseurs and older people enjoying each other's company and also beer. Great crowd for New Bedford. If you strictly drink the Bruce Lee "Bud Light" or Nick Lachey "Miller Light"..place is not for you. Pub atmosphere, wooden tables and chairs nothing fancy except the menu of ever changing beers on tap. Fully stocked EXCELLENT pub fare, I highly recommend the drunken chips which is their spin on nachos (home made potato chips instead of nacho chips)...awesome! Live music some nights and I am only going to throw this out there to my fellow Yelpers. Occasionally you can get a $50 coupon for $25 on either Groupon or Wicked Deals....that's as far as I am willing to go on a first date.....

I have been here several times since it opened this past spring. I am somewhat of a beer snob, and this is the best place to go around here if you're looking for something other than your typical macrobrew (but don't worry, you sheep, they have those, too). Upstairs they have maybe 15-20 brews on tap, a couple typical marcos, plus a nice selection of craft brews. Downstairs you will find eight high ABV brews (Delerium Tremens, Chimay Grand Reserve, Dogfish Head Midas' Touch, to name a few). The service is pretty good. If you go before 11ish, downstairs should be nice and slow, the bartenders are always friendly and up for a good conversation down there. As far as the food goes, the only thing I've had is their homemade potato chips, and they were excellent. UPDATE: They now have 18 brews downstairs! They have added 10 new taps in the past few weeks!!

I heard so much about this place I had to see it for myself. Honestly I am not sure what the fuss is. It must be my age because I much prefer Cork which is next door. But I have to be honest I am not a beer drinker so that probably has a lot to do with it. It also just reminded me of a fraternity, especially the basement area. When I get a chance to go out, which isn't frequently I prefer a nicer atmosphere, other then that it's a good place to hang out and drink and listen to music.

This place gets packed so if you want a table get there early. They have wide selection of beer to choose from which was great! After waiting a long time for our drinks our waitress disappeared never taking our order. When we tracked her down I ordered the short-rib sandwich that came with onion rings/strings. The short-rib sandwich was good but onion rings/strings were the worst I have ever had. I would have preferred frozen onion rings/strings instead. They were barley breaded and dripping with grease. Basically good beer, ok food, poor service. (September 2)

Far-ranging beer selection gives everyone choices they'll love. The food is better-than-decent pub food, with amazing fries that have multiple delicious rub flavorings. But, let's be honest, we go there for the beer and enjoy the food, not the other way around.

Rose Alley Ale House is a new bar recently opened where the old Cultivator club stood for many years. (FYI - no one who went there ever called it the Cultivator Shoals even though that's what it said on the sign.) The awkward look of the squat cement block building matched the interior grunge and the "goings on" inside in the old days, but the new bar has a decent ambiance. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. This is a comfy place. A little bit Spartan inside, but folks quickly settle in. There was a mix of people when I visited. There were a few UMass students hanging out at the bar, a few middle age folks enjoying the beer, and even a group of older hipsters checking out the scene. The attraction here is the beer. They have a very limited food menu, but the food is an afterthought. Rose Alley opened just a few weeks back, so I believe they are trialing an easy to execute menu temporarily as they work some of the bugs out. The menu leans to pub food, with more varieties of chicken wing represented than you can imagine. We ate and the food was good, but as I said, it's about the beer. You would have to travel to Bukowski in the Back Bay in Boston before you found a selection to exceed what's here. There are two bars. The upstairs bar on the main floor serves mellow beers - lagers, pilsners and IPAs. The real action is downstairs. They were pouring Three Philosophers, Stone Arrogant Bastard, Rogue Dead Guy, Southern Tier Unearthly and similar choices the day I was there. It doesn't matter where you sit. You can order beer form either bar and your server, or at least our server, Kate, will happily fetch your choices. The service was just fine. Kate wasn't that knowledgeable about the beer, but she made up for it with her cheery attitude and her genuine willingness to please. I'm rating Rose Alley as a bar instead of a restaurant, so I'm not factoring in the food. I give it a well deserved 4 stars for the selection and the service. Cheers!

Lots of fun...good 'chill' atmosphere - vs. the sketchy club type places in New Bedford. Love the vibe and they have Magner's Cider which I was happy about. Have a romantic dinner next door at Cork then head over to Rose Alley for some late night fun!
